For thermal pool lovers, the Terra Nostra Park (which is also famous as a bothanical garden) and the Poça da Dona Beija are a must-visit. Nature lovers can witness the Furnas Valley mesmerizing geothermal activity, with bubbling hot springs and fumaroles. Furnas Lake is a very special place that offers memorable experiences to anyone: you can take a leisure stroll around its shores, explore the trails nearby, or even take a ride on the "gaivotas" (pedal boats).

It is also in Furnas Lake that the famed Cozido das Furnas is made. It is a slow-cooked stew prepared using the natural geothermal heat. But you don't have to wait six hours to taste it, as you can find it local restaurants.

Although Furnas is in a valley, it is at the same time close to the sea. Ribeira Quente, which hosts one of the best beaches in the island (Praia do Fogo) is just a 10 minute drive away.
